The Power and Science of Comfort

THE SCIENCE AND POWER OF COMFORT
by Jeanelle Troncone

BE COMFORT STRONG

The Science of Comfort can enrich and change your life. The Comfort Silkie products are designed to evoke a comfort response. That innate response is activated by a stored memory association of Comfort Silkie and the comfort response it elicits.  Let your brain do the work, and your body, emotions, and soul follow.

This is the miracle of comfort; you don’t have to take hours or even weeks “to get there” like other calming techniques. Meditation, relaxation, breathing techniques require training, time, and consistency to achieve results. However, a Comfort Silkie sensory memory allows you to initiate the comfort response at any time. Embrace calm and joy. Reduce your fear, anxiety, and pain. powerofcomfort-comfortsilkie-reducestressanxiety.jpg

From babies to adults, we never out grow our need for comfort.

THE SCIENCE OF COMFORT.
HOW COMFORT WORKS.

We learn comfort before we are born. The fluid that surrounds us in the womb has a silkie feel. Those early sensations become part of our wiring of comfort response. Babies instinctively know how to stroke and soothe. You might say, we are “factory loaded” with an innate comfort response.

As adults, our need for comfort is triggered by … well, practically everything! Stressful events can overwhelm our natural coping mechanisms. Unfortunately, adults will often use food, drugs, or alcohol to get some relief.

Next time you are wondering how the power of comfort works; watch a baby with their Comfort Silkie Security blanket. They instinctively are soothed by the silkie and soft sensations. You can see the comfort response at work; their brain remembers, their body relaxes, their emotional state is calmed, they snuggle in and let go to comfort. Comfort is a circular business: brain, body, emotions, and soul.

COMFORT IN YOUR BRAIN: YOUR MIND

Your comfort memories are stored in two little almond shaped structures in the center of your brain. Let me introduce you to your amazing A-mig-du-la. Your amygdala does the work of processing and storing your emotions and memories. This is where the comfort response is activated in your brain. Your Comfort Silkie is a comfort anchor that creates a sensory memory. That stored association is what initiates biological and physiological responses that we call the “comfort response.”

Once a comfort memory is stored in your amygdala you can return to it over and over and your body and mind will respond. The brain remembers and the body responds.

COMFORT IN YOUR BODY

Comfort response is a circular business. Your activated amygdala can trigger a body wide response in seconds because it doesn’t wait for instructions from the conscious brain. Your 11 million sense neurons are constantly gathering information and relaying it to your brain. Comfort Silkie’s soothing sensations are categorized and sorted to their comfort memory at a speed of 250 mph. Comfort anchor, comfort memory, comfort response – it’s science.

COMFORT IN YOUR EMOTIONS

Comfort can calm emotions and give us time to sort our feelings.  Whether you are happy, angry, worried, sad; comfort is as mood stabilizer. Comfort Silkie provides a sensory anchor when life is full of feelings. Comfort can help regulate mental and physical responses that our emotions can trigger.

Comfort is good for the soul. The comfort response has the power to quiet us long enough for us to hear our hearts. The soothing power of comfort gives us a moment to pray, consider, reflect and listen.

5 STEPS TO COMFORT STRONG

com.fort – v : to give strength, calm, soothe, refresh

1.Take a moment to embrace the gift of comfort.

2. Feel the soothing Comfort Silkie fabrics and release yourself to softness.

3. Recognize tension in your body and let it go.

4. Be aware how comfort feels in your body.

5. Let your mind create a comfort memory.

These steps tap into your innate ability to make a sensory association with your Comfort Silkie.
Your brain stores that comfort memory and can return to it.
